The 2012 Volkswagen Polo - aka the Vento - looks to be in the initial stages of development after a couple of design sketches of the car made its way through the web. With the only discernable change coming in the presence of a trunk instead of a hatch that usually comes with previous Polo models, the 2012 incarnation looks to have been modified to be outfitted with a longer wheelbase, giving it more space inside the car.

Details surrounding the car’s technical specifications are still being kept under wraps although its highly likely that it would come in a variety of options including a 1.2-liter TSI, a 1.6-liter TDI, as well as naturally-aspirated 1.2 and 1.4-liter engines. Likewise, transmission options will also vary depending on the model of the car, ranging from a five-speed manual, a six-speed manual, and a seven-speed DSG.

As it stands, the 2012 Volkswagen Polo/Vento is expected to hit the Indian market in the coming months so you can, at the very least, expect the car to be launched sooner than later. Until then, these sketches should give you a basic idea of what the car is expected to look like.

Kirby’s first exposure into the world of automobiles happened when he caught Knight Rider on television as a five-year old boy. David Hasselhoff didn’t leave much of an impression on him (that happened later on in Baywatch), but KITT certainly did. To this day, Kirby remains convinced that he will one day own a car with the same ‘spirit’ as the original KITT (not the 2008 monstrosity). He doesn't know when that will be, but until then, he’s committed to expressing his love for KITT, and all cars for that matter, here at TopSpeed.  Read More

Huh? isn’t that VW polo are used to be in Hatchback platform? So are they making a Sedan out of it now?

The jetta was briefly called vento in Europe, so why use the same name on a car that is in a smaller class? Looks good though

Even in the sketch, this car looks good and i think it’s the best model of VW polo today.

Nice sketch, but I think it will be more appealing if they are going to mixed Volkswagen polo with a beetles style. Its only my opinion but I think it will be extraordinary.
