Maranello’s new hybrid supercar has pace you wouldn’t believe

LISTEN 01:45

The Ferrari SF90 Stradale puts a lot of supercars in their place with its blistering pace, but the quickness that it can to go from point A to point B is something that a lot of people have to see for themselves.

Brooks Weisblat from Dragtimes provided that opportunity when he got a chance to drive an SF90 in the streets of Puerto Rico. That’s where Ferrari’s new hybrid-supercar proved its worth, clocking a 0-to-60-mph time of just 2.35 seconds and hitting a quarter-mile in 9.62 seconds at 146 mph.

The Ferrari SF90 Stradale is a hybrid beast. It’s powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine that produces 769 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. Two electric motors mounted at the front and the rear add another 217 horsepower into the mix, bringing the total output to a whopping 986 horsepower. All that power goes to all four wheels courtesy of an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Weibslat went to Puerto Rico to give the SF90 Stradale a proper road shakedown, and when it came to straight-line speed, the SF90 turned in one impressive time after another, none more showstopping than posting a 0-to-60-mph time of under 2.4 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 9.62 seconds at speeds of 146 mph.

The video runs for more than 15 minutes, and you’re going to have to jump ahead to the 9:30 part to see how the SF90 did in a speed test on the streets of Puerto Rico. It’s must-see viewing for those who want to know what the hybrid supercar is capable of.

Kirby’s first exposure into the world of automobiles happened when he caught Knight Rider on television as a five-year old boy. David Hasselhoff didn’t leave much of an impression on him (that happened later on in Baywatch), but KITT certainly did. To this day, Kirby remains convinced that he will one day own a car with the same ‘spirit’ as the original KITT (not the 2008 monstrosity). He doesn't know when that will be, but until then, he’s committed to expressing his love for KITT, and all cars for that matter, here at TopSpeed.  Read full bio
