Someone Just Leaked the 2020 Porsche 911 Turbo on Instagram!
The shiny, sexy, Stuttgart superstar makes waves on the Internet way ahead of an official reveal!by Jonathan Lopez, on
It feels like just yesterday the eighth-generation 992 Porsche 911 was revealed at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show, but now we’re getting a sneak peek at the upcoming hot-to-trot 2020 Porsche 911 Turbo, courtesy of a recent leak posted to Instagram!
Wider Rear End, Big Intakes Give It Away - This Is The 2020 Porsche 911 Turbo
Recently hitting the social networks courtesy of Instagran user Todd Schleicher, what we have here appears to be the next-generation Porsche 911 Turbo fully assembled on the German factory floor.
We think it looks awesome, and we’re loving the grey paint and black wheels combo.
Indeed, this single image (just one, it’s mirrored top to bottom) definitely looks like what we’d expect from the 992-generation Turbo.
While most 911’s look pretty similar (generally speaking), the Turbo makes its presence known thanks to unique intakes ahead of the rear wheel arches, as well as square exhaust tips and a unique spoiler, not to mention a wider stance - all of which we see in this rear three-quarters image.
The rest of the styling cues appear as though they were plucked from the latest 2020 model year for the base 911, including revised taillights that stretch across the entirety of the rear end. We’d also expect the 992’s slightly revised front end.
And although it’s not immediately obvious from this leaked image, the new 2020 Porsche 911 Turbo will offer top-shelf supercar speed and handling.
Out back, you’ll find a 3.8-liter flat-six engine with a double dose of turbocharging, possibly producing more than 600 horsepower, but definitely besting the current model’s 540 ponies and 487 pound-feet of torque.
An extra dose of electric power is also a possibility, but unlikely.
Handling the cog swaps will be an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which will route output to a high-performance all-wheel drive system. A seven-speed manual is also a possibility for those of you craving three pedals.
Properly motivated, the 2020 Porsche 911 Turbo will hit 60 mph from a standstill in less than 3 seconds (2.5 seconds sounds about right), with a top speed pegged at more than 200 mph.
Corner carving agility will be upped thanks to features like a Porsche Vectoring Plus system and electronic rear differential.
We’re also expecting 20-inch wheels in front and 21-inch wheels in the rear.
After Porsche officially reveals the 2020 911 Turbo, we’ll likely see the even-faster, track-ready versions make the scene, including the RS and GT3 models.
As for the 2020 Porsche 911 Turbo’s official debut, we could very well see it at the Geneva Motor Show in just a few week’s time.
If not then, the Frankfurt Motor Show in September is another strong possibility.
Pricing for the current model starts around $161,800, and the new model will likely slotting in at roughly the same point. High-spec versions like the Turbo S will tack on tens of thousands of dollars to the bottom line.
