• Someone Seriously Turned a Pontiac Fiero Into a Porsche Carrera GT

With enough bondo, anything is possible

Car customization can make your dreams come true - even if that dream is turning your mid-80’s domestic into a Porsche supercar. Case in point is this, uh, unique Pontiac Fiero, which someone transformed into a hilarious parrot of the Porsche Carrera GT.

The best part is that it’s listed on Ebay UK, so if you really want it, and have an extra $16,881 to spare, it could be yours. Don’t worry, we won’t judge you.

Does GM Stand For “German Motors”?

Okay, so if you look at this thing for more than two-and-a-half seconds, it’s pretty obvious it’s not a real Porsche Carrera GT.

Still, you gotta hand it to the owner, and the work isn’t terrible for a side project built in a shed. I guess.

As for the mechanical bits underneath, the replica is based on the Pontiac Fiero, a compact two-door fastback GM produced between 1983 and 1988. In stock form, the Fiero comes with a mid-mounted powertrain, so at least the engine is in the right spot.

It looks like the builder decided to give this American-based Porsche some extra bits in the cabin space as well.

The dash and center console both look new, er, well, different, as do the seats, the shifter, and the steering wheel. And of course, don’t forget the giant Carrera badging across the now blocked-off glove box, just in case there’s any doubt as to what kind of car this thing really is.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a pretty hilarious Pontiac Fiero conversion - just check out this Ferrari Enzo, or this Ferrari Enzo.

This latest Porsche replica is currently up for sale on eBay, with a classified ad price of £12,995, which is $16,679.99 at current exchange rates (10/26/2018).

“My father bought this many many years ago when the Carrera GT had not long been out,” the owner writes in the eBay post. “Purely for fun but it did fool a lot of people it has remained in the garage for most of its life with him, but the gentleman beforehand spent a lot of time and money on this car.”

We can’t help but poke fun, but we have to applaud the builder’s efforts to at least attempt this ridiculous conversion. It might not look right to our eyes, but if the owners enjoyed it, that’s all that really matters.

Just for the sake of reference, the real Porsche Carrera GT comes with a mid-mounted 5.7-liter V-10 producing 603 horsepower and 435 pound-feet of torque, all of which is sent to the rear wheels by way of a six-speed manual transmission. Sixty mph arrives in about 3.5 seconds, while top speed clocks in at 205 mph.
