By now, all of you have probably spent the last 48 hours in front of your TVs with red eyes, numb fingers, and 12 empty cans of Red Bull lying on the side after undergoing your first – of what we expect to be many – marathon sessions of Gran Turismo->ke3689 5. How exactly do we know this? Let’s just say that we know how it feels.
But in the event that you still haven’t purchased your own copy of GT5 – shame on you, by the way – we’re here to give you the lowdown on the three different packages that the highly anticipated racing game comes in: the Standard Edition, the Limited Edition, and the Collector/Signature Edition.
If you’re looking to buy the game all by itself without the add-ones, then the Standard Edition is for you. The only thing you’re going to get apart from the game itself will be the receipt that comes with it. On the flip side, this is still the cheapest option at $59.99.

Limited Edition
If you want to splurge a little bit more - about $70 - to make up for all that waiting, you’re going to have to spend a few more dollars for the Limited Edition. In addition to the game itself, you’re also going to get an exclusive special edition inlay sleeve art, five Limited Edition art cards with each boasting of their own exclusive artwork, an exclusive dynamic theme that allows you to customize your PS3 XMB, an in-game ‘ChromeLine’ vehicle pack that includes five performance-enhanced supercars that are primed and ready for blast-off, and last but not least, a driver’s handbook called ‘Apex’ that comes with a number of must-read sections including driving and racing instruction guide, car tuning techniques, and a list of all the cars and race tracks available in the game.
Note: From what we've heard, this particular package is only being sold in Japan and the rest of Asia. We haven't gotten any word on whether Europe or North America has this version.
Collector/Signature Edition
The last and definitely most expensive edition - it sells for $100 even - is a must-have for those die-hard fans that have spent many sleepless nights crying on their pillows with every delay the developers had with the game. This is the Collector/Signature Edition, which, in addition to the game, comes with its own steel case, an exclusive branded Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG 1:43 scale model car, a Gran Turismo leather wallet and metal Gran Turismo key fob, a Signature Edition coffee table book featuring the cars and tracks of GT5, six extra in-game ‘Stealth’ cars that includes both the McLaren F1->ke1159 and the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, and a bespoke Gran Turismo 5 USB key that comes with a trailer video featuring the successful collaboration between Poliphony Digital – the people behind the game – and Mercedes-Benz that resulted in the SLS AMG appearing in the game while also posing as the official “cover car” of GT5.
But the most important addition to the game’s Signature Collection is something that should make this version sell like freshly made pancakes from IHOP.
