There’s an interesting thing that happens when large groups of auto enthusiasts congregate – traditional barriers are broken, connections are made, and everyone just kind of relaxes and enjoys the company of others who like cars as much as they do.

Case in point: South Africa BMW->ke178 Day 2015. Late last month, over 700 BMW drivers from all over the country gathered in Johannesburg to celebrate a common love for all things BMW. On hand were Beemers of all shapes and sizes, from old-school 2002s,->ke4727 to the latest and greatest M badges outfitted with oodles of go-faster parts. Show cars, race cars, daily drivers, and customs all made the trip.

Huge convoys of vehicles rolled in for the event, with the show and shine competition categories including Best Factory Stock, Best E30, Best Rare Car of the Day, Best M (actually divided into two categories, before and after 2002), Best Female Ride, Best Modified, and Best Exhaust Noise. There were even a few non-Beemers that showed up to join the fun, including at least one original Mini->ke57 and a few Mercedes.->ke187

I love seeing stuff like this. It’s a reminder that no matter where we come from, the love of a quality automobile can transcend any differences that may exist between us. The video does a good job in highlighting this through quality slow-motion segments depicting the participants and a few standout cars over mellow music.

It’s a beautiful thing to see.
