Speed bug, prompts Volvo recall.

This has been a problem for a while now, you know how it goes, you driving home after a long day at work you in the “Fast” lane of the motorway when suddenly your appears to have shifted down to first gear and you find yourself doing 15 miles per hour, while all around you are doing 70 miles per hour, not an ideal situation.

The is in fact not that the car has down shifted into first gear without your knowledge or input, the cars computer has detected a problem somewhere within the throttle mechanism and is there to stop the driver from over accelerating and causing further damage or even an accident, however it appears that the software is in danger of doing that for them.

The models involved are;

C70 models built between 1999 and 2002

V70 models built between 1999 and 2002

S60 models built between 2001 and 2002

S70 models built between 1999 and 2000

V70X models built between 1999 and 2000

The recall only requires the car to be taken into the dealer and for the software that controls the system to be changed.
