Mercedes is ramping up to introduce new generation cars its its line-up. First, the Stuttgart-based automaker’s best-selling compact SUV, the GLC, saw a comprehensive update with new looks and features. After the facelifted GLA was spied, it was finally the time for the GLC Coupe to go for road testing. The spy shots suggest that the front and rear fascias will see massive updates, similar to the GLC SUV. However, we expect the new-gen GLC Coupe to launch sometime in 2024, if not earlier.

After the GLC SUV launch, which had a great response, the first spy shots of the upcoming GLC Coupe prototype were captured. Internally named C254, the upcoming coupe will boast a coupe-like tail section, just like the current model, but will carry on the design dynamics of the recently launched GLC. The most notable difference would be the new set of LED headlights, similar to the 2023 GLC, with a similar grille design. The prototype shows fewer details on the front bumper since it is covered thoroughly. In addition, a set of 20-inch, 20-spoke wheels are seen on this prototype as well. At the rear, the spoiler is slightly bigger than the current generation. The GLC Coupe seems to have a different set of LED taillights than its SUV brother. Like the front fascia, the rear bumper design remains a secret as it is heavily camouflaged.

Like the GLC SUV, the coupe will also feature an updated infotainment system, which started with the S-Class and was later followed by the C-Class. A 12.3-inch driver information display and an 11.9-inch portrait-style touchscreen display are a significant part of the cabin upgrades. In addition, the new GLC SUV saw slightly better cabin space because of the increased footprints, and we hope it will also be the case with the GLC Coupe.

About the powertrains, expect the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-pot driving the rear wheels as a standard option. Like the new GLC, the coupe will launch as a mild-hybrid car; an integrated starter generator will help boost the engine power to 258 ponies and 295 pound-feet of torque. There will also be a 4Matic AWD variant as an option. However, we don’t know about the AMG models and the powertrains they will come with. Expect a plug-in hybrid model along with mild-hybrid or fully electric AMG GLC Coupes after the launch of the standard car.
