It's been a little over a year since we've seen the new 911 GT3 and it seems that a facelift version is just around the corner. While all eyes are focused on the Porsche 911 GT3 RS that is supposed to be unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, our spy photographers caught the Porsche 992.2 GT3 out for a first testing session around Nurburgring. Of course, these are just some early prototypes, which means the official debut is not going to happen until later in 2023.

Update 8-29-2022: The Porsche 992.2 911 GT3 facelift has been spotted again, this time with zero camoflauge.

Spy Shots 7-14-2022

These spy shots should come as no surprise to anyone considering that all Porsche models are due for an update. And just like with all the other models that were caught testing lately, changes will be minimal. This prototype features no camouflage on the front, which either means there will be no changes here, or simply that this is an early prototype, and more changes will be applied at a later date. The rear is camouflaged in black, but still, it is very easy to spot that the air intake in the rear bumper is sitting much higher than on the current model. The diffusor is also covered all around the exhaust, which means that some changes will be made here too.

As for the interior, the GT3 already features a lot of elements in direct connection to the racing world, so do not expect many updates. However, the spy shots reveal a fully covered interior with an updated dashboard - most likely the same digital dash we have seen in the Taycan. This is actually an update we have seen in all the latest Porsche 911 models.

Most likely, we won't see any updates under the hood, which means the 992.2 GT3 will be offered with the same 4.0-liter normally aspirated flat-six engine that delivers 503 horsepower at 9,000 RPM and 347 pound-feet at 6,100 RPM. A PDK gearbox will be offered as standard, but a six-speed manual transmission will also be offered. Performance figures will also remain unchanged: 0 to 60 mph in just 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 197 mph. We also have to remind you that the 992 GT3 will be the last non-hybrid GT3, as with the next generation, Porsche will also focus on making its vehicles more eco-friendly.

While waiting for more info on the future Porsche 911 GT3, keep your eyes on the Goodwood Festival of Speed where we should see the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS.
