It’s been a while since we last heard any news on the next generation C-Class, but we think the wait was really worth. As you can see, the latest prototypes caught testing have started dropping lots of the camouflage, revealing that the next C-Class->ke1593 will, in fact, be a smaller version of the new S-Class. If you take a closer look at these spy shots, you will notice that the rear end is really similar to the S-Class.

The new C-Class will take its design inspiration from the F800 Concept Car shown two years ago at the Geneva Motor Show, with a more marked front grille. You shouldn't expect the new C-Class to offer significant upgrades, because Mercedes will need its customers to be able to recognize the model. Still, Mercedes will make it more dynamic and sportier to give both the Audi A4 and the BMW 3-Series a serious competitor.

The new C-Class will be offered with various petrol and diesel engines, as well as a hybrid version – a first for the C-Class.

The new-generation C-Class sedan is expected to be unveiled in early 2014. It will be followed by a station wagon version, a coupe and a convertible. The new C-Class will be built in Mercedes’ Alabama plant alongside the GL- and M-Class.
