Last month, the 2014 Audi A8 was caught testing for the first time on the public roads in Germany. Today, the car changed landscapes and went for high-altitude testing in the Alps.

Just like in the previous testing session, Audi->ke14 chose to heavily camouflage this A8 prototype->ke1089; but even so, we expect to see the same updates that we have seen in all of the recently launched Audi models.

These updates will include: new headlight units; new grille; and small changes to the bumper. On the rear, the revisions include: new taillights and a revised bumper. The interior will also receive some small updates, plus an updated infotainment system.

Under the hood, Audi will focus on reducing fuel consumption and lowering CO2 emissions.

We expect the revised Audi A8 to be unveiled in September at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show->ke235.

Audi tried to hide the updates it will offer for the revised A8, but it is pretty clear we are going to see the same changes we have seen in other recently revised Audis.

Up front, we expect a revised grille, restyled headlights and a more arched hood. The grille will likely bear standard grey paint and a high-gloss black grille will be part of the S-Line model. The headlights will receive the same slight wave at the bottom edges and will be offered with standard LED daytime running lights.

At the rear, the revised A8 will only receive a new diffuser and reworked taillights.
