With Ferrari preparing to unveil the Purosangue with more than 800 horsepower under the hood, we were expecting Lamborghini to do something about its 640-horsepower Urus in order to stay relevant. However, Ferrari shows no fear, as this updated Huracan Evo shows that very little is changing for the brand's resident super SUV.

Lamborghini will indeed offer a facelift for the Urus, but it will be just that, a mid-cycle refresh, with no changes made under the hood. The Urus Evo has been testing for over a year now, which means an official debut should be imminent. In fact, we already knew that Lamborghini plans to unveil four new models in 2022, and the Urus Evo should be one of them.

As you can see from these spy shots, there won't be any dramatic change. Instead, the Urus will receive a few enhancements to the front and rear in order to stay fresh. The front fascia will be updated with revised air intakes that will skip the Y-shaped, horizontal elements. The grille also appears to feature a new pattern design. The hood appears to be updated, and it will feature angled vents on each side. In the back, changes will be smaller and will most likely include just a redesigned bumper. We expect a few changes to be made on the interior too, but, just like with the exterior, nothing major.

That said, there will be no major changes under the hood. This means, the Urus Evo will be offered with the same 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V-8 engine that delivers 641 horsepower and 626 pound-feet of torque. There are a few rumors suggesting that the final output could be increased to 655 horsepower, but this will give Ferrari no reason to worry. Instead, Ferrari should worry about the fact that the Urus is about to offered in hybrid form, and that model will feature the same powertrain as the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid. In the Porsche model, the hybrid powertrain delivers a combined 671 horsepower and 663 pound-feet of torque - so expect similar figures for the Urus Hybrid too. Of course, rumors suggest that the hybrid Purosangue will have the same hybrid powertrain as the 296 GTB. In the sports coupe it delivers a combined power output of 818 horses and 546 pound-feet of torque which is again a lot more than the Urus. But the Urus might arrive way earlier and will steal a lot of customers from Ferrari.

But all these numbers are pure speculation at the moment. We will find out more about them when the Urus Evo will finally arrive - most likely before the end of 2022. Sales should start in time for the 2023 model year.
