AutoExpress caught the upcoming Impreza STi testing and as you can se from the spy shots the car is really taking shape!

The high-performance version of the Subaru Impreza, powered by a 2.5-litre flat-four will go on sale next year.

It will have a maximum output of 300 hp and a peak torque of 400 Nm. The engine will be mated with a six-speed manual gearbox; an automatic one will follow in 2009.

are u out of ur in mind the turbo that it has in it makes it so fast an powerful i can see ya’ll s don’t kno bout cars, an with it engine bein a 2.5L i-4 it reduces weight that a H-6 wud produce do ya research kid less weight means better performance.....i tell ya these rookies

They should just stick the 3-litre H6 into it and I mean a normally aspirated version instead of a complicated turbo.

I don’t know how well the regular Impreza is going to look, but looking at this pic here I must say the STi is growing on me. I think the trick is to start looking at the Impreza like somewhat of a Ford Focus or Escort Cosworth. Hatchbacks with wheels at each corner, perfect for tarmac and dexterity runs. Let’s see...
