Subaru’s Viziv concept game has been on point since the automaker introduced the first concept at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. Since then, we’ve seen crossovers, SUVs, hatchbacks, and even a virtual Vision GT concept all sport the Viziv moniker. All told, Subaru has released five Viziv concepts since 2013. As we prepare for the 2018 edition of the Geneva Motor Show, we’re going to see the sixth version in the form of the Viziv Tourer Concept.

If you’ve been following Subaru’s rollout of Viziv concepts in the past, you’ll notice a trend among them. Outside of the Vision Gran Turismo concept, the past few showers served as previews of the next-generation WRX and STI models. Now that the Viziv Concept Tourer is on its way, all signs point to the concept acting as a preview of a WRX estate, a model that Subaru is set to launch alongside the WRX sedan.

We still don’t know a lot about the Viziv Concept Tourer, but generous as it is, Subaru released a teaser image of the show car, revealing a section of the rear. The image itself doesn’t show much, but we can make out those C-shaped taillights pretty clearly. The prominent styling lines also peek out from the image and the rakish styling is evident by the endless amount of layers in the car’s design. There are no photos of the front end, but if form holds, don’t expect it to change dramatically from past Viziv concepts. If anything, it could be identical to what we’ve seen in the past, especially if Subaru pushes through with its plan of using the concept as a foretelling of a future production model. That’s been the trend with these Viziv concepts anyway. It’s unlikely that it’s going to change this time.

What we can tell at this point is that all future Subarus will sit on the automaker’s new Global Platform. That would include the production version of the Viziv Concept. Keep in mind too that Subaru has kept technical details of all previous Viziv concepts under wraps. Outside of the Vision Gran Turismo Concept, technical details of all other Viziv show cars have been hard to come by. Don’t be surprised if we get a similar treatment with the Viziv Concept Tourer. It probably doesn’t matter if we’re getting production models anyway, but it would at least be helpful to know the numbers behind it.
