Supercar Blondie is known to feature some outrageous machines on her YouTube channel. Today, she has something really special to show us, that’s been flown in all the way from Germany.

Overview

We find her in a deserted parking lot, somewhere in Dubai. An enclosed flatbed truck arrives with one of the rarest and most incredible Porsche’s ever made. She pulls off the cover to reveal the stunning Porsche 919 Hypercar, which is finished in a very German silver.

For those of you who don’t know, the Porsche 919 Hybrid, was a Le Mans race car, that was immensely successful. It dominated the series, winning for three consecutive years between 2015-2017. Given the 919’s phenomenal success, it was only natural that Porsche made a road-going version. Well, here it is. In fact, this is the only street-legal 919 in existence.

Porsche Design at its Apex

They pull the hypercar out from the truck and it truly is a sight to behold. It combines the traditional Porsche design elements in a package that also manages to look pretty extreme. The front facia for instance is unmistakably Porsche. You have some truly unique-looking quad-laser lights upfront. This being a Le Mans inspired you only get a sticker in place of a traditional Porsche badge. You’ll also notice how Porsche has cleverly integrated the aero elements upfront, with air being sucked in and being channelized in a way that it exits below the windscreen.

Move to the side and this is where you begin to notice the racing DNA of this Porsche come through. You’ll find a pronounced fin, similar to the one on the AMG GT One, sitting on top of the roof. Move to the back and you’ll find design elements reminiscent of some other recent flagship Porsche’s. For instance, you’ll find the Porsche lettering sitting proudly in the center, which I’m guessing is the brake light, like the one you’d find on a Carrera GT. How about those dual exhausts that sit up top of the engine cover, similar to the one on the Porsche 918.

The tail end is finished off with a low wing, a massive diffuser, and a full-length light bar that runs the entire width of the car. You also have Le Mans Paket (Le Mans Package,) mentioned on two more vertical fins, integrated into the rear end. Four pronounced haunches that each house massive center-lock wheels with ventilated carbon-ceramic discs. The blacked-out A-Pillar and makes gives the illusion of a floating roof and the car has an aggressive stance. It looks like this Porsche is doing a Million mph, even when standing still. Design-wise, the 919 is a class act from Porsche.

But here’s why this particular example is the only street-legal 919 that Porsche made. This 919 has the LMP1 Le Mans hybrid race engine, that produces 900 horsepower and requires a small of mechanics to get it running. It takes them close to 45 minutes just to get the engine running, and that’s something thats’ not necessarily feasible in the real world is it? Having to fly out specialized mechanics from Germany, when you want to take your 919 to the closest coffee shop. That’s exactly why Porsche decided to abandon the project altogether.

To Sum It Up

It's a shame that Porsche isn't making the 919 Hybrid. Maybe Porsche could have done something similar to the Ferrari FXX project, where they’ll fly out the car and a small team of mechanics to any race track in the world. Nonetheless, this 919 Hybrid is one of the most extreme-looking creations to have come out of Stuttgart and we just hope that some elements of this hypercar make it to future Porsches.
