The Cybertruck is unique, unorthodox, and quite different from what we expected

After making us wait for years, Elon Musk finally unveiled the Cybertruck at a standalone event in Los Angeles. The Cybertruck breaks the orthodox styling of a pickup truck that we’ve been seeing for a century now.

In fact, the truck looks so much different from the ones in production today that it does not even feature Tesla’s logo anywhere. No one can mistake it to be anything else. Also, there were very few renderings that matched the actual truck, but none of them got one aspect right – the roof; or rather, the missing roof. Is the truck anything like you imagined it to be?

The Real Tesla Cybertruck

Up front, the Tesla Cybertruck features a distinct face. For starters, Tesla has not plonked a huge grille that’s synonymous with the combustion-engined pickups we get these days. An electric truck doesn’t need one anyway. The body is made of ultra-hard 30X cold-rolled stainless steel and is scratch-proof and dent-proof according to Musk. For the headlights, Tesla has featured a concealed light bar. This gives it a very Ironman mask-esque vibe. The hood has no muscle lines or creases whatsoever; it’s as plain as it can get. For the bumper, Tesla has made use of a black unit that features tow hooks. The windshield is sharply raked and extends all the way up to the what do we call it... roof?

The side profile is as unique as the front. The truck comes with a pointed head, and that's quite obvious. Basically, the front windshield goes all the way up and extends a bit on the other side to form a sunroof of sorts. From there, an aluminum tonneau cover takes over and covers the bed to the tailgate.

The wheel arches skirting and side steps are made of black plastic cladding. Other than this, the doors also do not feature any lines and creases, and the door handles, too, sit flush with the body. The underbody is reinforced for added protection while off-roading.

The tailgate is a tall piece and does not have any badging, at least as of now. It even doubles up as a ramp to load things into the bed. The bumper step is integrated into the side of the truck bed when opened. A slim LED light bar is placed at the top of the tailgate that acts as the taillight. The bumper is a black unit that angles into the underbody to further protect it from hits but it also helps increase the departure angle. Overall, the truck will certainly draw polarizing opinions.

Musk’s best-kept secret is finally revealed to the world and it is an attention-grabber. As I mentioned earlier, it will draw polarizing opinions, but it comes with specs that are quite impressive. The highlight here is the starting price of $39,900. It will be offered in three variants and the top trim offers a range of over 500 miles on a single charge.
