A hefty amount of jaws were dropped when Tesla->ke1842 gave everyone the D with the 2015 Model S P85D launch back in October 2014, but that amount will probably increase after the viewing of the footage above, where the said model is being put to the test on a dyno. The folks from Drag Times got a hold of a Model S P85D -- otherwise known as the fastest-accelerating production sedan->ke142 in the world -- and strapped it to a dyno to see how much power the car actually makes.

Since the ginormous torque that the model's two electric motors->ke1030 develops is pretty much instant, there were a few problems with putting the power down even on the dyno's rollers and with four driving wheels instead of two. In the end, the Drag Times tester managed to get the hang of it and rolled into the power low enough to get some real readings. The results are outstanding, to put it bluntly, as the tested P85D managed to put down no less than 864 pound-feet of torque at the wheels during numerous runs.

With Tesla itself mentioning that the Model S P85D develops a combined motor output of 691 horsepower and a naught-to-60-mph acceleration time of just 3.2 seconds, it is no wonder that the real life tests have arrived at a rather simple conclusion: its acceleration from a dig is simply torture for both the tires and the asphalt, not to mention the back of its passengers' heads Those are some rather impressive numbers for a production car, to say the least.
