2020 Tesla Roadster Rear Seats And Interior Filmed In Great Detail

Three days before Tesla reported its devastating losses per share for the Q1 2019, Twitter user Hamid published a compelling and somewhat surprising video of the 2020 Tesla Roadster on its Twitter feed. For the first time, we can see the rear seats and the interior of the upcoming Tesla Roadster. In a short video, Hamid managed to film the interior, show us how to open the 2020 Tesla Roadster doors and reveal the overly minimalistic dashboard. 2020 Tesla Roadster intimate pictures do show a few other curious tidbits too.

2020 Tesla Roadster Interior Is Lackluster But Has Two Rear Seats

The 2020 Tesla Roadster, on display during Tesla’s Autonomy Day (characterized by many as a "smokescreen for the financial losses"), casually sitting in one corner for anyone to have a look. Hamid Shojaee took the opportunity and showcased how to get in.

You only have to slide down your finger over three lines located at the B pillar, and the 2020 Tesla Roadster opens.

While Tesla may retain this cool feature, it will also get the automatic-door opener as on the Model X. I am sure that you will be able to manage a lot of it via your smartphone.

When you enter the vehicle, the Tesla Roadster welcomes you with basically nothing. Ok, now you have that cool F-1 styled steering wheel, but I doubt that anything of a sort will reach the production.

Not only is it strange and too racecar ready, but it seems that the steering wheel position is so low that larger specimens would have problems driving it. That said, I believe that Tesla will change the position and the shape of the steering wheel.
You will also see a rather lovely screen at the center of the dash and ventilated seats. That’s it.

Obviously, I am disappointed. I don't know if I am old-school or what, but I do need a bit of life and emotion in the cabin.

The last time I sat in the Tesla Model S, I felt the same. It just has too much of nothing. I can’t deal with that - not in that tedious entry-level Tesla Model S, and especially not in the $200,000 worth 2020 Tesla Roadster.

What I can get behind (not literally) are the rear seats.

The 2020 Tesla Model S has them. Hamid, unfortunately, did not film the rear seat room, but he did show a bench with a sporty profile. I believe that the 2020 Tesla Roadster will have more room at the back compared to 911. Not by much though. After all, this is a sports car that will measure approximately 175 inches (a bit less probably), and that has the same tires as the Porsche 918 Spyder - Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2. So, the rear seats aren’t there for the luxury and comfort. That is the reason I have seen many claiming that they’d rather have nice storage place at the back than the rear seats.

Unfortunately, I cannot see that Tesla reinvented the cabin or changed it dramatically compared to the Model 2 or the Model S. True, the shapes are different because of the supercar layout, but the spartan character is absolutely the same. I do hope that the future hides a few new surprises we have never thought about.

While this video and the photos enthusiast at Tesla's Autonomy Day captured show some new neat touches, we are still far from the official introduction to the electric supercar.

We do know, however, that the 2020 Tesla Roadster will be able to accelerate to 60 mph in 1.9 seconds, achieve 250 mph, and cover 621 miles at the highway speed on one charge. Elon Musk said that the Roadster has one motor up front and two at the back for a full 10,000 Nm of torque on the wheels. This, of course, is impossible!
I have other concerns about the 2020 Tesla Roadster - with incredible loses and falling demand, could it be that Tesla delays the project for a bit?

After all, this is what analytics said about its last quarter:

“In our 20 years of covering tech stocks on the Street we view this quarter as one of top debacles we have ever seen while Musk & Co. in an episode out of the Twilight Zone act as if demand and profitability will magically return to the Tesla story.”
