High-performance sedan’s long-awaited unveiling is happening later today!

I for one am not clear on the notion of leakages and hacks, but it is becoming a little alarming that we’re getting more and more of them these days. In BMW’s case, I’m pretty sure that it’s not very thrilled about images of the 2018 BMW M5 leaking hours before it’s supposed to make its debut. But this is the world we live in now so here it is, ladies and gentlemen. This is the 2018 BMW M5 and it looks the part of worthy successor to the Bimmer’s family of M5 models. So what can we ascertain based on these photos of the M5? Evidently, the changes in the performance sedan’s styling isn’t as significant as we thought it would be.

Sure, there are some notable features there like the massive intakes that are integrated into the bumper. They’re not as big as the ones on the Z4 Concept, but they’re still pretty sizeable relative to our expectations. Other than that, the side profile of the sedan looks more aggressive with the pronounced body lines. The side mirrors are also new, as are the new set of wheels. Inside, everything appears to be similar to the past model’s interior configuration, though the gear shifter does have what looks to be a new design. These photos themselves also don’t tell us anything about what powertrain the M5’s going to get. What’s been rumored though is that i’ll feature a 4.4-liter bi-turbo engine with an impressive 680 horsepower on tap, allowing it to hit 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds on its way to a top speed that should comfortably eclipse 200 mph. If BMW billed the new M5 as the fastest four-door sedan in the world, it’s worth noting that at the very least, it looks like it could be just that.
