The next-gen Porsche 911 will bring in a plethora of models when it launches for 2019. The 911 turbo and 911 GT3 have already been spied testing, and now the automaker has confirmed that the Carrera T badge will return as well.

Heart Of The Matter

While speaking with Road and Track at last month’s Rennsport Reunion at Laguna Seca, Porsche 911’s chief engineer, August Achleitner said that said he loves the current-gen 911 Carrera T and that the next-gen 911 range will also include a Carrera T. “In the last half-year, I almost only drove a Carrera T manual and I love this car. It’s just pure. The only option I have beside the navigation system is a sunroof. Wonderful,” he said.

Under The Hood

It is mated to a manual transmission system and sprints from naught to 60 miles per hour in 4.3 seconds. It is 0.1 seconds quicker than the standard 911 Carrera. While the major chunk of buyers will opt for the manual transmission, Porsche has kept the PDK transmission as option for that group that likes to drive this car with an automatic gearbox.

The current 911 Carrera T was unveiled in October 2017 and takes inspiration from the Porsche 911 T of 1968. Instead of using a naturally-aspirated engine, the Carrera T retains the twin-turbo 3.0-liter flat-six of the regular Carrera, albeit the higher power output.

Other Notable Points

The Carrera T can be differentiated visually from the other 911 models from the subtle black exterior graphics, new badging, custom seat trimmings and door opener loops rather than handles.

Will the next-gen Carrera T induce the same interest as the current one? Of course! What do you think about the Porsche 911 Carrera GT? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
