I’d wager most folks reading this would agree that, by and large, Ferrari knows how to make a good-looking car. That much is obvious with the 2020 Ferrari F8 Tributo, which arrived at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show looking like a heaping slab of tasty speed machine slathered in shiny blue frosting. All told, the F8 Tributo has us quite optimistic when it comes to the Prancing Horse’s styling future.

As if it weren’t immediately obvious, the 2020 Ferrari F8 Tributo is based on the 2019 Ferrari 488 Pista. The front fascia is quite similar between the two models, with the same low-slung, über-wide features, and sly-grin intake shaping. The high-rising headlights lead the eye rearwards into the fenders, waving up and down towards the large intakes placed near the aft wheels. The nose is sharp and pointed, while the tail is squat and square. V-shaped lines are used everywhere, adding to the car’s overall visual sharpness.

Because even though the 488 Pista DNA is obvious, there are a few things to set the F8 Tributo apart from its predecessor. We could go into all the minutiae of the design updates, but we think it’s best summed up as a more-extreme expression of the language we first saw with the 488 (and the 458 before it).

What’s more, we expect the aesthetic plays well when it comes to the aero specs. And that’s important when you consider the role such things play in modern supercar performance. If you don’t have the right wing, you’re not even in the game.

Long story short, we can’t wait to see how this language plays on the variety of new Ferrari models coming down the pipe, including the brand’s first SUV and a successor to the LeFerrari.

To that point, both hybrid and electric power are expected to play a major role in Ferrari’s future powertrain offerings. And while that might sour the taste for some, we think that with styling like this, Ferrari will remain one of most aspirational brands on the market.

The name is a nod to the most-powerful V-8 in Ferrari’s history, and as a result, the 2020 Ferrari F8 Tributo comes equipped with a mid-rear-engine layout featuring a 4.0-liter V-8 producing 710 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque. The run from 0 to 60 mph takes 2.9 seconds, while top speed is pegged at 211 mph.
