This is the season of reincarnations. From monikers being retrieved, to the cars themselves, this period couldn't have gotten any better. We saw the rousing welcome that Jeep Gladiator got, and if there was any other car that anticipated more than that, it was the mid-engined Corvette. Enthusiasts all across the globe have been waiting for the mid-engined Corvette to hit the production line, but Chevrolet made us wait for almost five decades before caving in. The automaker has announced that the car will be revealed on the July 18, but we don't have to wait for another month to see the car. The Corvette C8 has been spotted doing final test runs under heavy camouflage, and it gives glimpses of what we can expect when its launched.

This Calms Our Nerves For A While

While this is no high-resolution video shot by a professional spy videographer or anything, it still shows us the Corvette C8 quite well. Corvetteblogger.com found this video on YouTuber 'marceldemario' channel. The video was shot by this enthusiast who admits he was too excited to realize that he shot it in vertical mode. Since he drove past the heavily camouflaged car quitequick, he figured out that the viewers need the best views, so he paused the video at the right frames that show the car perfectly. The car was spotted under heavy dressing and that makes it tough to figure out the details. However, the body of this prototype seems to be a little rounded-off, which will surely mess with the aerodynamics. Maybe it's the closing that makes it look chubbier, but we expect a toned version at the time of the launch.

We're not quite sure if they are sequential, but they are thin, long, and will match the C8's overall personality. At the rear, the spoiler can be spotted, meaning this could be a top-spec car. I highly doubt that Chevy will offer a spoiler on the lower trims as there will not be many differentiating aspects otherwise.

Will Chevy Launch More Videos Till The Release?

Chevrolet had launched a teaser clip last month to further build the hype surrounding the Corvette C8's reveal. That video basically shows what Corvette has done over the years. To brief you about the clip, it starts off with Corvette's old and new logos, followed by some of the most iconic models from the Corvette's stable. The automaker has paid homage to the Russian engineer who made Corvette what it is today - Zora Arkus-Duntov.

A few of the models which mark their presence, even if it's for half-a-second, include the experimental car designed in 1959, the first-gen C1 convertible, a couple of C2 Stingrays, the C2 Concept from 1959, and so on. There are speculations that this could also be the C8's Nurburgring lap record time, but that seems unlikely.

What We Know About The Mid-Engined Corvette Till Now

As is the tradition with Corvette, the logo has been redesigned yet again. This time, however, the changes are very subtle. The elements remain the same - checkered flag on the left, and Bowtie logo and fleur-de-lis on the right. But the two arms have been pushed together and now connect completely instead of just their bases. In my opinion, this subtle change makes the logo look much more mature and aligned now.

Apparently, there's a hybrid engine in the works too and it could touch the four-digit power figure mark, but that is still at least a couple of years away. Chevy is expecting the C8 to be a runaway success as it added 400 hourly jobs to its factory in Bowling Green, Kentucky, to add an extra production shift at the facility. Will the car be able to live up to the expectations of the enthusiasts? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
