SEMA show has been a major attraction for people interested in aftermarket equipment and accessories. It also served as a perfect ground for the engineers and designers to showcase their creative sides by building crazy concepts. For off-roaders and pickup trucks, it was the biggest stage of ‘em all. But, just like the other shows this year, the SEMA show, too, will bite the dust. Earlier this week, SEMA officially confirmed that the 2020 edition of the show is scrapped. Well, this was expected.

SEMA Show Isn't Happening This Year

SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) officially announced that the 2020 edition will not happen. It was supposed to take place at the Las Vegas Convention Center from November 3 to November 6. Unlike other auto shows, this one is nothing without people.

The SEMA show attracts a lot of enthusiasts who are not interested in new products, per se, but who like to see manufacturers, distributors, retailers, auto restorers, street-rod builders, re-stylers, car clubs, race teams, and more such teams who think out of the box.

How Good It Would’ve Been For The Bronco

I don't see why Ford Bronco wouldn't have participated if the show was taking place in regular conditions. Ford has already announced 200+ factory-backed aftermarket accessories for the same, and a lot of aftermarket companies and tuners would display their range as well. Imagine getting to see the Sasquatch package in person! Jeep, too, could have used it as an opportunity to show who the real king in this niche is. What a war that would've been!

What They Had To Say

"The SEMA Show is committed to furthering businesses in the automotive specialty-equipment market, and to providing manufacturers and buyers with the best opportunity to connect, promote new products and discover new trends," said SEMA President and CEO, Chris Kersting. "We appreciate the spirit, hard work and innovation our industry puts into the SEMA Show each year. While we are disappointed circumstances prevent us from hosting the show in November, we look forward to getting everyone together in 2021 for another outstanding event."

Final Thoughts

SEMA said that it will issue full refunds for booth exhibition fees as well as the attendee registrations. The scheduled dates for the 2021 show are November 2 to 5, but I hope SEMA plans for a show sometime early next year if the COVID-19 situation gets any better.
