The 2020 Toyota Supra was designed with one very clear goal in mind - fun behind the wheel. However, given the Supra is still a road car that folks will likely drive on the street with, you know, stuff in it, it’s worth checking out what it offers in terms of practicality. Luckily, the Supra does indeed come with a hatchback cargo area that can fit stuff inside it.

Space For Things

Press a little button up front, and the Supra’s be-spoilered hatch pops up, revealing the rear cargo section.

Despite the hatch, the opening is really quite small, which makes loading larger items in and out kinda difficult. The shape of the cargo area is a little awkward as well, with decent width, but an abbreviated length. Towards the nose of the car, the hatch section gets a large blocked off section, which likely covers the rear strut bar. At either end of the cover is a pair of subwoofers, which are offered as optional equipment lower in the line, and standard equipment higher in the line.

That said, the hatch leads directly into the cabin space, which means you can place longer items lengthwise so that they stretch forward next to the seats.

The moral of the story is this - the 2020 Supra has a trunk big enough to carry some things, but it’s not the most practical vehicle on the planet. I’d wager the hatch would swallow a pair of golf bags or a few suitcases, but not much else. This is still a true sports car, and frankly, I’m happy Toyota decided to maximize front interior room rather than trunk space.

Topping it all off is a plastic and fabric cargo cover.
