The facelifted SQ2 won’t make the trip to the U.S. as it remains an EU-only affair, but at least it looks sharper than the car we saw take a bow two years ago, so that might mean something for prospective customers from Europe.

Mind you, the makeover is strictly of a cosmetic nature, so power and torque gains are off the table.

What changed, exactly?

The Singleframe grille sits a tad lower and sports a polygonal pattern as opposed to the pre-facelift’s square slats. The horizontal bar that used to cross the bumper below the grille is gone only to be replaced by more plastic cladding with a hexagonal motif and overall, the SQ2’s face looks more muscular, almost like it’s frowning. LED headlights are standard, but you can upgrade to Matrix LED clusters.

In the rear, the bumper displays the same polygonal while below, a new diffuser connects the double-pipe exhaust. The taillights are also of the LED variety.

Audi tells us it tweaked the S sport suspension of the SQ2 so the performance crossover sits 20 millimeters (0.8 inches) closer to the ground. Tweaks were made to the steering ratio for a more zippy response, which should mean extra agility and composure in tight corners.

18-inch wheels are the default offering, but you can upgrade to 19-inch ones. Behind those hide 340-millimeter (13.4 inches) brake discs in the front and 310-millimeter (12.2 inches) rotors in the rear.

What’s under the hood doesn’t change

Meaning the revised SQ2 gets the familiar 2-liter TFSI turbo-four seen in many Audi models. For the SQ2, Audi kept the 296-horsepower output (221 kilowatts, 300 PS) as well as the 400-Newton-meter torque (295 pound-feet). A seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch gearbox and Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive are send resources to all four corners.

Performance-wise, the SQ2 will zap from naught to 100 kph (62 mph) in 4.9 seconds en route to a Vmax of 250 kph (155 mph).

When can it get it?

If you live in Europe and want one, know that Audi has begun taking pre-sale orders for the SQ2. In Germany, the sporty crossover starts at €45,700 (including VAT), which is around $54,200. Deliveries are scheduled to kick off next year, so the first cars should hit the dealerships in spring.
