The 2021 Dodge Challenger Drag Pak runs the quarter-mile in just 7.5 seconds

Dodge just announced pricing for the 2021 Challenger Drag Pak and at $143,485, not including destination and taxes, it’s the most expensive vehicle you can buy from the American brand. The Drag Pak makes the Challenger SRT Super Stock, priced from $81,090, seem affordable, but we’re looking at completely different vehicles here. Although they share the same Challenger body and platform, the SRT Super Stock is a street-legal muscle car, while the Drag Pak is a full-fledged race car that you can only drive at the drag strip.

The latest Challenger Drag Pak is fitted with a 5.8-liter Hemi V-8 engine topped with a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger.

The combo generates an NHRA-rated 630 horsepower that hit the wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. Dodge says it can run the quarter-mile in as low as 7.5 seconds, which makes it the quickest Drag Pak model built so far. Although not as powerful as the Challenger Hellcat, Demon, or SRT Super Stock, the Drag Pak is definitely quicker thanks to its race-spec suspension and lightweight construction.

Dodge redesigned the rear suspension for the 2021 model year with a four-link setup with longer controls and swing arms, as well as a wishbone link for the lateral control arms. It also features a larger-diameter anti-roll bar, which results in more anti-squat control and greater stability during launches. The front section rides on a Mopar K-member with solid engine mounts and two-way adjustable Bilstein coilovers. You can choose from Bogart or Weld Racing wheels, both wrapped in Mickey Thompson drag radial tires. The Drag Pak comes standard with wheelie bars and a 10-foot parachute.

In order to save weight, Dodge stripped off the Drag Pak’s interior and added an NHRA-certified roll cage from chromoly tubing. The gauge cluster from the road model has been replaced with individual analog gauges for rpm, brake pressure, and oil pressure, while a Holley EFI digital display provides info on the car’s performance.

As before, Dodge is only building 50 examples of the extremely fast Drag Pak. The drag racer can be ordered through Dodge/SRT Concierge, but you’d better hurry as Drag Paks usually sell out quickly.
