A new report as surfaced that the 2021 Ford Bronco will actually debut in April of 2020 at the New York Auto Show. During the debut, we’ll apparently get to see the two- and four-door versions of the revived SUV with the Bronco pickup and Bronco Sport (otherwise known as the “Baby Bronco”) set to debut sometime later. Does the report hold any merit or is someone playing with our emotions?

The Ford Bronco Will Debut in Spring of 2020

At the time, we still believed that the Detroit Auto Show would fit the bill as it kicks of on June 13th, with the press preview days happening a couple of days before. These dates fell right at the end of the “spring 2020” debut window. However, the New York Auto Show sits right in the middle of spring as well, with Ford Authority reporting that April 7th and 8th being the main days considered for the big unveiling.

With that in mind, only April 8 makes sense as that’s the first press day of the New York Auto Show, and Ford will not skip out having all the press on hand for the rebirth of such a legendary name. So, if Ford Authority’s report holds any water at all, expect April 8, 2020 to be the big day.

Ford Will Probably Debut the Bronco At the Detroit Auto Show

This latest report withstanding, we’re still not convinced. Just like the new Shelby GT500 debuted at the Detroit Auto Show, the 2021 Ford Bronco probably will too. And, if you think about it, the Detroit Auto Show makes a lot more sense. First, it will be outside for the first time, which gives Ford a lot of opportunity to showcase the Bronco’s abilities. Furthermore, the Bronco, in general, will be a lot more popular in a place like Michigan, where off-roading is a common thing. We have nothing against New York, but it’s not exactly the place you think of when you think about off-roading and Baja.

If the Bronco debuts at the Detroit Auto Show, expect to see it happen on June 9 or June 10, during the press preview days.

The Report Might be Wrong About the Venue, but the Rest Makes Sense

According to the report, the Ford Bronco will be shown off in both two- and four-door form. We know that it’ll be built at Ford’s Michigan Assembly Plant where the original Bronco was also built. As for the Bronco-based picked – basically a glorified, body-on-frame Ranger – and the Baby Bronco – known as the Bronco II back in the day – those will debut later on. There’s no word as to when the Bronco Pickup of Bronco Sport will be revealed, but they will likely be a year out. Then again, if really does decide to debut the Bronco at the New York Auto Show, then the Detroit Auto Show could serve as the venue for the Bronco Pickup and Bronco Sport. It’s still not very likely as far as we’re concerned, and we’re still putting our money on the Detroit Auto Show, but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

Regardless of what venue Ford Chooses, neither show is that far off, so we’ll be learning of the official debut date soon enough.
