Introduced for 2017, the current-generation Mercedes-Benz E-Class was recently updated for the 2021 model year. But while the sedan and wagon were unveiled in early 2020, the two-door versions have yet to break cover in facelifted specs. But Mercedes-Benz finally announced that both the Coupe and Convertible models are set to be unveiled on May 27.

Changes will be similar to the sedan model, so look for mild updates front and rear in terms of styling. Inside, both cars will switch to the new MBUX infotainment system, which is one of the most advanced such features on the market. The two-door models will also feature upgraded driver assistance system and safety tech, as well as the steering wheel with built-in sensors and touch-sensitive buttons.

In the U.S., the previous base E 450 model will be replaced by the E 450e, which also includes a 48-volt EQ Boost system. The six-cylinder engine in this model cranks out 357 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, while EQ Boost adds an extra 22 horses. Mercedes-Benz will also offer the AMG E 53 trim, powered by a similar setup, but with a six-cylinder engine that cranks out 429 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque.

Naturally, both the Coupe and Convertible will eventually become available in the beefed-up AMG E 63 trim. The E 63 will feature a 4.0-liter V-8 engine good for 563 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of twist, while the E63 S will take output up to 604 horses and 627 pound-feet of torque.

Stay tuned for the online unveiling on May 27 and our full reviews for these cars.
