The outgoing 911 Turbo S is already a very powerful machine at 580 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque, but the new 992-gen model benefits from a notable upgrade in that department. Specifically, Car and Driver claims that That's an extra 61 horses and 37 pound-feet over its predecessor. These figures are not yet official so take them with a grain of salt for now, but the big increase is very likely given the jump Porsche made with each generation of the 911 Turbo.

The new 911 Turbo S will be notably more powerful, but will the extra oomph make a difference in performance? This is an important question because it seems that the upcoming Turbo S will be some 100 pounds heavier. Well, the aforementioned source says that That's a tenth-second quicker than Car and Driver's benchmark in the outgoing model and three tenths quicker than the official rating of the 991.2 Turbo S. More importantly, a 2.5-second benchmark puts the new Turbo S into supercar territory and on par with vehicles from Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, and Bugatti. This is also an impressive gain given the extra weight.

The Turbo S will have a top speed of 205 mph, identical to the old model. Although this benchmark remains unchanged, it's a solid number for a sports car in this category, as most supercars barely get beyond the 210-mph mark.

The 2021 Porsche 911 Turbo S will feature a permanent all-wheel-drive system, just like its predecessor. It will also be offered with an eight-speed automatic transmission, with no choice for a manual. The coupe will ride on 20-inch wheels in the front and slightly bigger, 21-inch rollers in the rear, while stopping power ill come from new, high-performance brakes. Look for 16.5-inch rotors in the front and 15.4-inch rotors in the rear.
