It took a while but Audi finally unveiled its all-electric sports car and it’s actually derived into two variants. You’ve got the more civilian Audi e-tron GT and the higher-performance RS e-tron GT, both looking like they came out of the concept car shop.

Yes, there are some engineering and visual similarities with the Porsche Taycan. However, the e-tron GT won’t be mistaken for anything else than an Audi thanks to a series of styling cues that allign nicely to Ingolstadt’s currrent exterior and interior design language. Audi tells us that the e-tron is about the same length as the A7, albeit lower and wider.

Audi fitted the e-tron GT with two electric motors – one for each axle. The one in the front makes 235 horsepower, while the one in the rear is good for 429 horsepower for a combined output of 469 horsepower (or 522 horsepower with overboost for about 2.5 seconds and launch control on). Torque comes in at 464 pound-feet (472 pound-feet under overboost), enough to propel the e-tron GT from zero to sixty in 3.9 seconds en route to a top (track) speed of 152 mph.

In the RS e-tron GT, the front electric motor is retained, but the rear one has more oomph: 450 horsepower. Overall, the RS e-tron GT’s power output rises to 590 horsepower (637 horsepower with overboost). Torque is rated at 612 pound-feet, and it’s available at all times. As a result, 0-60 takes just 3.1 seconds (just like the ICE-powered Audi R8 V10), with top (track) speed coming in at 155 mph.

Sending power to the wheels is a two-speed transmission, while the battery pack available for both the e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT is a 93.4-kWh unit integrated into a 800-volt electrical system. Audi estimates that maximum range on a full charge is 283 miles for the e-tron GT and 232 miles for the RS-badged version. We’re still waiting for the EPA estimates for a better picture.

Charging-wise, the fancy architecture allows the e-tron to replenish the battery at 270 kilowatts (whenever the station allows it). What’s more, in this scenario, charging the battery from 5-percent to 80-percent takes just 22 and a half minutes.

In the U.S., the new 2022 e-tron GT starts at $99,900 (Premium Plus). Pick the quattro Prestige trim and the sticker jumps to $107,100, while the range-topping RS e-tron GT demands at least $139,900. The 2022 e-tron GT goes on sale Stateside this summer.
