The C-Class is to Mercedes-Benz what the 3 Series is to BMW. That is best demonstrated by the amount of tech Stuttgart poured into the new C-Class via the S-Class flagship. Here’s everything you need to know about the new 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class, which is expected to hit U.S. showrooms in early 2022.
2022 C-Class: Powertrain
The U.S.-bound 2022 C-Class is getting Mercedes’ M254 four-cylinder gasoline engine fitted with an integrated starter-generator that temporarily contributes with a boost of 20 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque to the overall tally. The ICE is good for 255 horsepower at 5,800 rpm and 295-pound-feet of twist between 2,000-3,200 rpm. Taking these resources to the ground is a 9G-Tronic transmission and on demand, the 4Matic all-wheel-drive.
Performance-wise, the rear-wheel-driven Mercedes-Benz C 300 and C 300 4Matic are good for a 0-60 mph sprint of 5.9 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 130 mph.

The first batch of press photos reveals a design that’s very familiar. We can spot a bit of the A-Class sedan in there as well as some styling cues from the CLA/CLS. Nothing to write home about, really, as Mercedes-Benz is trying to align its range to the same visual creed.
The AMG Line trim brings a fancier diamond-pattern front grille, while every C-Class can be painted in one of the new hues: Starling Blue, Cirrus Silver, Moonlight White, Graphite Grey, and Selenite Grey Magno. 18- and 19-inch wheels are available.

2022 C-Class: Interior
This is where Stuttgart rallied to offer the very best. Everything looks neat and well-designed, but then again, that’s expected from Mercedes-Benz. U.S. customers get a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 11.9-inch centrally mounted screen that decorates the dashboard.
Apart from the MBUX OS, the C-Class also gets the Digital Light system which debuted in the S-Class. The setup projects warnings and guidelines onto the road ahead and splits the light via 1.3 million micro-mirrors embedded in the headlight unit. A color HUD is also available, but it comes as an optional feature. The new C-Class’ tech package is completed by the ability to receive over-the-air (OTA) updates.
We’re also told that the cabin is more spacious than before and that’s thanks to the stretched wheelbase, which is now one inch longer than before, reaching 112.8 inches. At the same time, the new C-Class is also 2.5 inches longer and half an inch wider, with headroom, shoulder room, and elbow room taking a hike, together with legroom in the rear. Cargo space in the trunk doesn’t change from the previous generation C-Class – 17.9 cubic feet.
