Those looking for more practicality from their Taycan can now buy the Taycan Cross Turismo. In what was supposed to be a debut at the Geneva Motor Show (thanks, covid-19!), Porsche has released all we need to know about the wagon-ized version of the Taycan EV.

Right off the bat, the Taycan Cross Turismo gets every powertrain variant available for the regular Taycan. Porsche even kept the "Soul, Electrified" tagline for the Cross Turismo as, let’s face it, this is still a Taycan despite the toned rear end. This means the market gets four Taycan Cross Turismo variants, namely:

  • Taycan 4 Cross Turismo
  • Taycan 4S Cross Turismo
  • Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo
  • Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo

Each trim retains the same power, torque, and performance figures as the regular Taycans – except for the 0-60 mph sprint, which is now one-tenth of a second slower for each version of the Cross Turismo.

Trust us, you will not feel the difference in real life, not when the range-topping Cross Turismo can still hit 60 mph from a standstill in 2.7 seconds (instead of the regular Taycan’s 2.6-second sprint time) and reach a Vmax of 155 mph.

Where the Taycan Cross Turismo shines over his rivals – namely the Model S and Audi’s freshly revealed e-tron GT – has to do with practicality. Occupants get more front and rear headroom, but also more storage space inside the trunk – 42.8 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down plus another 2.9 cubic feet available in the frunk.

Chassis-wise, the Taycan Cross Turismo sits 20mm higher off the ground than the sedan, and there is a Gravel Mode that lifts the suspension by 10mm. Mind you, this works at speeds of up to 19 mph.

If the extra 30mm worth of ground clearance is not enough, then you can fit the Taycan CT with the Off-Road pack, which adds another 30mm to the tally, so you’re getting an all-electric power wagon that can, on paper, hold its own in mild to moderate off-road conditions.

If we are to talk turkey, the 2022 Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo starts at $92,250 (that’s the 4 Cross Turismo variant), which is $11,000 more expensive than the base Taycan 4 sedan. Deliveries should kick off this summer, unless covid-19 decides to disrupt logistic chains once again.
