Audi started to test the future Q6 e-Tron back in October 2021, and then a few times at the beginning of 2022. We know it will even get an RS version! But, all these past times the prototype was heavily camouflaged and it was impossible to make an idea as to how it will look.

Today, however, our spy photographers caught the next Q6 e-Tron out for a new testing session on the roads of Scandinavia, plus, as a bonus, a car with a completely uncovered front end.

The car actually seems to be production-ready and engineers were just working on the technicals under the bonnet. Since the entire front cover was lifted, we had a clear and undisguised look at the front end. This image reveals the new split headlights, which seem to be a thing for all future models, as well as the huge grille, the front bumper design, and the air intakes.

On the other hand, the prototype caught testing in Scandinavia was part of a huge test group together with the Audi Q5 prototype, a regular Audi Q7, and a benchmarking BMW iX.

What we know about the future Q6 e-Tron is that it will be built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) - a modular platform developed exclusively for electric vehicles by Porsche, Audi, and Bentley. The same platform will also be used for models like the Macan EV and the smaller A6 e-Tron.

Rumors suggest that the SUV will be offered with the same powertrain as the A6 e-Tron Concept. This one featured two electric motors and had a combined power output of 476 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. The concept car’s 100 kWh battery had a range of up to 434 miles - so expect similar numbers for the Q6 e-Tron too.

The Audi Q6 E-Tron will be built at the company’s EV plant in Ingolstadt. It is expected to debut sometime in 2022, with sales set to begin in 2023.
