We knew that an all-electric 7 Series was in the works as early as April 2020. Also, Spy shots over the past few months have also confirmed the arrival of the new 7, and BMW also recently teased an image of the same. Well, the time is finally here as the BMW i7 debuts today. The i7 will break cover today (20th April 2022) at 8 a.m. EDT, and you can watch the live stream right here:

The BMW i7 has been leaked a few times already, and here's a little preview of what to expect when the car comes out:

The exterior borrows the same split headlamp setup that we just saw on the refreshed 2023 BMW X7, that was unveiled just a few days ago. } It appears that this headlamp setup will be a new design trait of BMW exterior design and future models. As for that kidney grille, well it is quite prominent and bigger as compared to the outgoing 7. According to Forbes, the next upcoming i7 has a host of sensors including four short-range seniors, a long-range radar, and a LiDar sensor (developed in partnership with Innoviz.) The flagship sedan is engineered for Level 3 driver assistance.

What To Expect?

As for powertrains, the new i7 will likely adopt the same dual motor setup from the iX M60, with an output of 610 horsepower and 811 pound-feet of torque. Expect an EPA range of 305 miles (yet to be certified). The upcoming 7 Series meanwhile is rumored to have more than 600 horsepower along with an electrified V-8. BMW will do a global unveil in New York Munich and Shanghai on 20th April. Watch this space.
