While working on a facelift version for the X5, BMW is also preparing an updated version of the X6. A first prototype was caught testing at the beginning of February, and now, our spy photographers caught a new prototype out testing in North Scandinavia.

The prototype still wears little camouflage, but just on the front fascia. This means the changes will be minimal. Just like on the BMW X5 LCI, the changes will be limited to an updated grille and new head lights. Previous rumors suggested that the headlights will get a design similar to the recently launched XM Concept, but in fact, they will be just a little bit slimmer than the current ones.

The rear wears no camouflage at the moment, but this doesn't mean there will be no changes here. We are just looking at a prototype in a newer stage of development, and with time, the prototypes will most likely bring more changes.

The interior will also offer some changes, including BMW’s latest iDrive 8 infotainment system.

As for the engine lineup, you should expect no major changes. So, the X6 will continue to be offered with the same engine lineup. Just as a reminder, in the States, customers will still get the usual 40i and the M50i. The first model will get a turbocharged, 3.0-liter inline-six engine rated at 335 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque, while the second one will get a more powerful twin-turbo, 4.4-liter V-8 rated at 523 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque.

The facelift BMW X6 is expect to be launched in 2023 and will be up for sale as a 2024 model year.
