It’s not even been a week since Honda teased the upcoming Civic Type-R, but the car is already spied out in the wild during testing
The four-door hatch features a large air dam at the bottom with honeycomb mesh detailing. The same detailing can be seen within the grille as well, which is flanked by LED headlights and DRLs
Side air intakes are covered on this prototype, but it will add to the sporty vibes of the car. It won’t have any extravagant bling and will stick to black elements all around
It looks just as well swell from the side. This prototype is seen wearing hot 10-spoke black wheels shod in low-profile tires. You can also see Red Brembo brake calipers
Rocker trims with winglets are present in front of the rear wheels, just like the 2021 Civic Type-R
The huge rear wing grabs the eyeballs, but there will be some design tweaks on the bottom half. The vents seem to be subtler, but we’ll wait for the non-camo pics for a better understanding
The three-tip exhaust graces the center of the derriere. The one in the middle is larger than the other two. Of course, there’s a diffuser as well
There’s no word on the powertrain specs, but the refreshed Civic Type-R will be powered by the same 2.0-liter, four-cylinder turbocharged mill
The 2021 model makes 306 HP and 295 lb-ft of twist. However, the new model could have higher power outputs. Perhaps, 330 HP and more than 300 lb-ft of torque
Handling dynamics could be improved by a stiffer chassis and a different suspension tune-up. The refreshed Honda Civic Type-R will debut in 2022. Swipe up to learn more about it
