The Hyundai Accent, or Verna, as it is known in some parts of the world. is now in its fifth generation. A sixth-generation is around the corner, and, these spy shots show the South Korean automaker has already begun testing it.

The prototype caught testing is heavily camouflaged, but we can still decipher what the new Accent will look like

The next-gen Accent should retain the same compact sedan dimensions, but rumors suggest that the design will be inspired by its bigger brother, the Elantra. This means the upcoming Accent will get the same large jewel-pattern grille that seamlessly merges with the headlights and accommodates the turn signals.

From the side, it seems to have a fastback-like profile, but it looks like it’s got a regular trunk without a big opening.

Under the hood, we expect to see a series of 1.5-liter units, both gasoline and diesel, and probably offered with mild-hybrid tech.

Expect the next generation Accent to debut at the end of 2022 or early 2023.
