Hyundai has big plans for its Ioniq electric sub-brand: it will launch 23 new electric models by 2025. It all started with the launch of the Ioniq 5, and will continue with the Ioniq 6, but also an N version of the recently launched electric hatch. In fact, the next Ioniq 5 N was caught testing a few times before, but today the electric hatch has been spied testing closer to Nürburgring.

The prototype is wearing the same N colors, but the pattern is different than the one used in the previous prototypes. It still wears the usual N slogan "Never just drive" and was caught testing next to a Kia EV6.

The Ioniq 5 N prototype will feature wider rear wheel arches and sportier-looking bumpers. Other than that, we do not expect the N version to offer many other exterior changes. However, the ride will be lowered and the suspension will be stiffer. Hyundai will also offer bigger brakes and wider low-profile tires to help the sporty hatch on the track. Also, because of the wider tires, the model will be equipped with some small fender flares on the wheel arches.

For the interior, you should expect the usual N touches with sports seats and a sporty steering wheel.

As for the powertrain, rumors suggest the Ioniq 5 N will borrow it from the Kia EV6 GT. This model is offered with a 77.4 kWh battery pack and a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive system - a combination that delivers a total of 577 horsepower and 546 pound-feet of torque. These changes will make the N version a lot more powerful than the standard Ioniq 5. The base model delivers a total of 320 horsepower and 446 pound-feet of torque from a dual-electric motor setup.

Expect the new Hyundai Ioniq 5 N to be revealed in 2023.
