• The 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport Is Confident Enough To Shed Some Camo

An official debut of the 2023 Range Rover Sport should happen by the end of 2022

Land Rover is working on a new generation Range Rover Sport for quite some years now. But for reasons only known to the automaker, the official debut is being delayed. Instead, Land Rover engineers are taking Range Rover Sport prototypes out for more testing sessions.

Last time we saw a prototype being loaded on a trailer back in February 2022, and now, a new one. This time, it’s a Plug-In-Hybrid version that was caught out on the streets.

This new prototype is also dropping some of its camouflage, revealing the air intakes in the front and production lights. It is also clear that the Range Rover Sport will retain the familiar boxy style, but its exterior design will have a lot of design elements borrowed from the Velar.

Land Rover managed to keep the next Range Rover Sport a secret so far, but we still have some rumors on it. It is being suggested that the new model will be built on the MLA-Flex platform - a change that will improve both, the ride quality and comfort.

As for the engine line-up, we expect the next Range Rover Sport to offer a wide variety of engines, including a mild-hybrid six-cylinder gas and turbodiesel. Of course, there will also be a plug-in hybrid version - as suggested by these spy shots - while the SVR version is rumored to be powered by a more powerful BMW-sourced twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 engine.

While the official launch date for the new generation Range Rover Sport is still a mystery, we expect it to happen by the end of the year, with sales to begin in 2023.
