Mercedes launched the current generation G-Class back in 2018 and now, four years later, the company is about to also offer a facelift for it. Prototypes of the standard G-Class facelift, the AMG G63 and even the the G4×4² have been caught testing many times before, but the ones caught testing recently are a little bit more special. Our spy photographers managed to get some pictures of the facelift G-Class during a beautiful sunset, and we have to admit: the red and orange landscape makes the SUV look even better, despite the camouflage!

The problem is that all the prototypes caught testing are still very carefully camouflaged, so it is very difficult to tell what changes the facelift G-Class will offer. However, it seems that the current headlights and taillights will be carried over, but changes will be done to the grille and front and rear bumper.

Mercedes will also update the interior of the G-Class a little. Next to a new steering wheel, you should also expect to see the latest MBUX system.

As for the engine lineup, we do not expect to see major changes under the hood. This means the standard G500 will be offered with the same 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine that delivers a total of 422 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque. On the other hand, the G63 AMG will get the usual 4.0-liter, Biturbo V-8 engine that delivers 577 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque. Also, do not expect any sign of hybridization any time soon, but you should remember that Mercedes is working on an electric G-Class. Our first glimpse of that model was offered by the EQG Concept.

Expect the facelift G-Class to be revealed before the fall of 2022, with sales to begin for the 2023 model year.
