The Nürburgring test season has started once again and Porsche took its latest creation, the 911 Hybrid, out on the ring for some play. This is not the first time the 911 Hybrid has been spotted on the Nürburgring. The first time was back in November 2021 when we had the first confirmation that a 911 Hybrid is right around the corner. After that, the model continued its testing sessions in the cold weather of Northern Europe, and now, the 911 Hybrid is back into the spotlight. A second prototype is testing in Sweden at the same time.

The prototypes are wearing the same yellow stickers as before - a first indication that we are looking at a hybrid model. And, speaking about hybrid, we have to remind you that the next 911 Hybrid will not be a plug-in hybrid version, but it will borrow technology from the motorsport division and cars like the 919 Hybrid.

This means the 911 Hybrid will be equipped with a very small battery - a move that will keep the weight as low as possible. This decision shouldn't come as a surprise, since Porsche said many times before that with the next 911 Hybrid, they want to focus on performance rather than on fuel efficiency. However, we have a feeling that somehow, the company will be able to combine both.

In a previous interview with TopGear, Porsche’s CEO, Oliver Blume, said that the next 911 Hybrid will be "the highest-performance 911 of all times," which means that the car should deliver at least 700 horsepower, since the 911 GT2 RS delivers 690 horsepower.

You shouldn't expect a small battery and an electric motor to add supercar-like performance, but it should help improve the car's efficiency since Porsche's main goal right now is to meet emissions regulations.

Expect the 911 Hybrid to be unveiled sometime in 2023 with sales set to begin in 2024.
