The initial stages of the 4th Design competition have seen over 4000 design sketches and projects submitted from international internet based designers all around the world. It is testimony to the interest aroused by the theme of the competition to reinterpret the car as a source of authentic pleasure, summed up in the acronym P.L.E.A.S.E.

More than 4000 projects: A new record! Due to the interest created by the winning projects from the three previous competitions, the 4th Design competition has seen its international popularity increase, as entries have been received from 113 different countries.

The highest number of projects has been received from China (525), in front of France (477), Turkey (212), Mexico (161), Russia (153), USA (123), UK (122), Italy (122), Argentina (103) and Colombia (99).

The competition now enters the selection phase. From the 21st December to the 23rd January the ten finalists will be determined by a vote over the Internet, from the 30 projects short listed by the panel of judges.

After the public vote, the judging panel, made up of representatives from Peugeot, principally from Peugeot’s Design Centre and from Microsoft Xbox 360, will decide on a winner of the competition, which will be announced in mid February on the internet site

The competition then follows three steps from this point until the Frankfurt Motor Show:

The presentation in March, by M. Frédéric Saint-Geours, Managing Director Automobiles Peugeot, of the « La Griffe » trophy to the designer of the winning project, at the Geneva Motor Show ;
The creation of a full scale model of the winning design, between April and September 2007 ;
The presentation of the finished model at the Frankfurt Motor Show, in September 2007.

An Exceptional Prize

The final part of the competition is an exceptional prize: As well as the creation of a full scale model for the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show, the winning project will also be replicated in the next version of the Project Gotham Racing (PGR) game for the Xbox 360, and produced in a 1/43rd scale model, as well the winner will receive a cheque for 6 000 €.
