Acura has put together a serious update for the 2019 Acura NSX that includes an updated chassis for better handling, new interior and exterior colors, better software calibration, and $4,700 worth of previously optional equipment as standard.

2019 Acura NSX

The 2019 Acura NSX is now offered in Thermal Orange Pearl as seen above and can even be optioned with orange brake calipers to match. The front grille surround now comes in body color, while the front grille surround, air intake mesh, and rear bumper mesh no get a high-gloss finish. If you opt for the carbon fiber package or the carbon fiber spoiler, all included equipment will also come with a high-gloss finish. There are no new exterior design features to speak of outside of aesthetics, but the 2019 model year does away with that weird silver trim upfront, so that’s a welcome surprise.

Updates to the interior are also fairly minimal, but Acura now offers an Indigo Blue leather and Alcantara theme. If you opt for the full leather, powered seats, you can also have those in Red – a nice improvement over the ebony color provided previously. As far as pricing goes, the MSRP of the entry-level model has increased to $157,500, which represents an increase of $1,500 but don’t get your panties in a bunch quite yet. That price increase doesn’t even matter because there’s a long list of previously available options that are now standard. Kicking off the list are the powered sports seats. Those would have set you back $1,500, but now that they are standard, you’ve already gotten your value for the price increase. Next to these, navigation, front\rear proximity sensors\aluminum sport pedals, and the ELS Studio sound system are also marked as standard equipment. See – a slightly higher cost but even more value. Not bad, Acura, not bad.

You don’t think we’re done just yet, do you? I promised you that this was a significant update and it’s time I explain why. Under the body, Acura put in some serious work. A good chunk of the chassis has been modified to create a much stiffer vehicle. Acura increased the size of the front and rear sway bars. We’re not sure by how much, but the automaker claims stiffness is up by 26-percent in the front and 19-percent in the rear. Toe link bushings are also stiffer by 21 percent, adding to the overall handling capability.

Unfortunately, there are no actual drivetrain upgrades to talk about, so you’ll have to make due with the cool exterior and interior color choices. That doesn’t mean that the 2019 Acura NSX won’t be quicker, though, at least in some regard. With a stiffer chassis, rethought suspension, and recalibrated software, this thing might actually a tad bit quicker on the track. Add to that the long list of optional features that are now standard, and it looks like the 2019 model is a pretty good deal.
