The Audi Q6 e-Tron Will Get An RS Version

These latest spy shots suggest that the Q6 e-Tron will be blessed with the sportier RS version as well

Audi is testing the Q6 e-Tron for quite some time now. We first saw it back in October 2021, and then spotted testing it earlier this year as well. The last prototype caught testing though reveals something interesting - Audi is also preparing an RS version for the next Q6 e-Tron.

So, what makes us believe this is no regular Q6 e-Tron? First of all, the front bumper is sportier when compared to the previous prototypes. Second, this version is equipped with bigger brakes than before, and features red calipers - typical RS details. On a side note, the next Q6 e-tron will be offered with regenerative braking available, which means Audi might not need to go overboard on friction brakes, but the RS version will still get bigger ones.

Also, the new prototype is wearing the production lights - split headlights up front and more conventional rear lights.

Just like the A6 e-tron, the next Q6 e-tron will be built on the Premium Electric Platform (PPE) - a modular platform developed exclusively for electric vehicles by Porsche, Audi, and Bentley. The same platform will also be shared with models like the Porsche Macan EV.

While we have no idea what powertrain the next Q6 e-tron will feature, rumors suggest that it might be the same powertrain used in the A6 E-Tron concept; an electric motor on each axle that makes 469 horses and 590 pound-feet of torque combined. For the RS version, however, Audi will go with more powerful and torquier front and rear motors and a larger battery pack. We should expect around 600 horsepower for the RS Q6 e-tron. The system will also be combined with a stiffer suspension, lighter wheels, and grippier tires.

Since the Audi Q6 e-tron will most likely debut by the end of 2022, the RS Q6 e-tron buyers will have to wait one more year.
