There are enough and more internal combustion-engined versus electric vehicle races on YouTube and most of them end up having the EV beat its rival quite comfortably. But, this time, things could be a little different seeing the cars and their specs on paper.

The folks at Carwow decided to pit the Tesla Model 3 against the Audi RS6 Avant. The Model 3 has beaten some of the most loved cars in the past in straight-line races, but could things be any different this time?

Tesla Model 3 vs. Audi RS6 Avant

The Audi RS6 Avant Tribute Edition is powered by the standard 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V-8 engine that produces 591 horses and 590 pound-feet of torque. The mill is also equipped with a 48-volt mild hybrid system. Power is sent to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. It features a Sport Exhaust system, the robust grunt of which can be adjusted using the Audi drive select system.

The Tesla Model 3 Performance, on the other hand, comes with a two-motor setup – one on each axle – to power all the wheels. It makes around 490 horses and 487 pound-feet of twist. It weighs 4,076 pounds, making it lighter than the Audi RS6 Avant’s 4,575 pounds of curb weight, despite the batteries.

While the RS6 Avant has a Launch Control, this Model 3 doesn’t. That’s precisely what puts both the vehicles on par when starting off the line – one’s got a launch control, the other’s got instantaneous torque. That’s also the primary reason why this isn’t a lopsided race.

The two cars go through a series of drag races, rolling starts, and brake tests, and the results are pretty much even at the end with each one excelling in one or the other department.
