The Battle of the V6: 2011 Camaro vs. 2011 Mustang

It’s a war on horsepower and nothing gets our engines running faster than when leading carmakers wage that war leaving us to choose from the products of their battle. This is the case with the current horsepower leader, the 2011 Ford Mustang V6. This magnificent car places ahead of Chevy Camaro’s current 2010 specs with better fuel economy (it gets 19mpg city/31mpg hwy) and a hair more horsepower (it leads the Camaro by one horsepower exactly), however, Chevrolet Camaro and Corvette marketing manager, John Fitzpatrick hinted that this lead may be short-lived. Fitzpatrick was asked if Chevrolet would respond to the numbers challenge in the next couple of years and he replied, “you might see it sooner than that". Fitzpatrick also made note of the fact that the 2011 Chevy Camaro specs will be arriving in the next few weeks.

Needless to say, we are very excited to see those specs as soon as they come out. The 2010 Chevy Camaro V6 has a 3.6L engine putting out 304hp and provides a fuel economy of 17mpg city/29mpg hwy. For those of us who are not math geniuses, that means that Chevy will only have to excel slightly in horsepower, but will have to allow for a 2mpg increase in terms of fuel economy. Let the games begin.

I’m not buying it from Chevy just yet. The new specs are up on the website and they’re advertising 312 hp in the V6. Meh. That’s just enough to top Mustangs’s 305 hp ON PAPER, but is it enough to compensate for Camaro weighing another 400lbs? Doubt it.

Remember that the 426hp Camaro V8 still can’t outrun the 412 Mustang. Chevy needs to cut some weight somewhere and quick.

With out mustang there would never have been a camaro. Now go take both for an honest drive, truth is the mustang makes you want to keep on driving, the camaro not so much. Mustangs with the high reving power plants have been more exciting for years and if you drove both from around 2000 you would know exactly what Im talking about. A high torque engine like the camaro had was boreing if you drove it right after a mustang. the new ones have similar problems and the biggest problem is that gm has always spent more money on the outside appearance and that makes the inside feel like crap in comparison. Ford wins yet again. Check the motor trend test on u tube. 2011 mustang vrs camaro vrs challenger

Well, they’ve been battling for almost 40 years from now and still they can’t declare who’s the best. Good thing that in this review they didn’t include the GT-R for sure many will pick the GT-R.

I’ll give my bet on Camaro since I’m not fond of Mustang.

If I were asked by some rich guy or something and he says “which of the two cars do you think will look good in you’re garage...its my gift to you”, I will definitely say “heck I want both of them”. Lol. Although there may have been some slight difference in horsepower and mileage, other issues such as performance, acceleration, comfort and etc.. will even determine more on which car is better. If I can get the chance like what I said earlier, I wouldn’t care on which one to get (but if he will, I’d really take both)
