It’s a war on horsepower and nothing gets our engines running faster than when leading carmakers wage that war leaving us to choose from the products of their battle. This is the case with the current horsepower leader, the 2011 Ford Mustang V6. This magnificent car places ahead of Chevy Camaro’s current 2010 specs with better fuel economy (it gets 19mpg city/31mpg hwy) and a hair more horsepower (it leads the Camaro by one horsepower exactly), however, Chevrolet Camaro->ke248 and Corvette->ke1280 marketing manager, John Fitzpatrick hinted that this lead may be short-lived. Fitzpatrick was asked if Chevrolet would respond to the numbers challenge in the next couple of years and he replied, “you might see it sooner than that". Fitzpatrick also made note of the fact that the 2011 Chevy Camaro specs will be arriving in the next few weeks.

Needless to say, we are very excited to see those specs as soon as they come out. The 2010 Chevy Camaro V6 has a 3.6L engine putting out 304hp and provides a fuel economy of 17mpg city/29mpg hwy. For those of us who are not math geniuses, that means that Chevy will only have to excel slightly in horsepower, but will have to allow for a 2mpg increase in terms of fuel economy. Let the games begin.
