Just a few days ago it announced the Continental GT and GTC S, and last year the revised Bentayga received a similar treatment. Now, is time for the Flying Spur luxury sedan to be offered in S form. As is the usual case, most of the changes are aesthetical, but unlike the other two models, it offers two different engine choices. The model will be on display at the Goodwood Festival of Speed next to the Continental GT and GTC S and the older Bentayga S. Also, with the exception of the SUV, all models will take part in the event of Hillclimb.

What powers the new Bentley Flying Spur S?

Unlike the Bentayga S and the Continental S which are only offered with a V-8 engine, the new Flying Spur S offers a choice of two powertrains. First is, of course, a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine that delivers a total of 543 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque. This version goes from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.0 seconds and up to a top speed of 198 mph. The second option is a hybrid powertrain that combines a 2.9-liter V-6 petrol engine with an advanced electric motor. The system delivers a combined 536 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque. This version is one-tenth of a second slower than the V-8 version and it can cover 26 miles (41 kilometers) in pure electric drive.

Just like the Continental S models, the Flying Spur S equipped with the V-8 engine will be offered with Bentley’s Dynamic Ride as standard - an advanced 48V electric active anti-roll control system that generates up to 955 pound-feet in just 0.3 seconds. This way it helps keep the body flat and stable under spirited cornering. It comes standard with electronic All-wheel Steering and a sport exhaust.

Just a Fancy Appearance Package

For the exterior, Bentley is offering the possibility to go with all the paints available for the Flying Spur, but there are a few differences. First, all the bright polished metal of the standard model is replaced by black elements. The same black treatment is applied to the lower bumper grilles, the headlamps and rear lights, the quad tailpipe finishers, and S badging on the front fenders. Even the grille is finished in gloss black with vertical vanes and black gloss surround. The only elements that were left in the traditional bright chrome finish are the winged Bentley badge and lettering on the trunk.

The car will be offered with a choice of two wheels - both unique to the S version. First, there is a 22-inch wheels in five Y-shaped spokes design and finished in either gloss black or a new Pale Brodgar Satin finish. The second option is a 21-inch tri-spoke wheel design that combines gloss black and bright machined finishes.

Just like with the other two S models, the interior is available with a variety of two-tone leather color schemes. Dinamica is applied to the heated steering wheel, gear lever, seat cushions, and seat backrests, while leather is applied on the seat bolsters, door pads, along the instrument panel, and around the console. The seats are offered as standard with a fluted design or an optional quilted finish. An "S" logo is embroidered on the headrest, but, on customer request it can be changed to Bentley wings.
