The BMW 135i xDrive Will Adopt A More M-Look For The 2023 Model Year

The facelift will be major this time

Just like many other BMW models, the 1 Series is also about to receive a facelift version. Engineers in Munich, Germany, are very busy testing the new versions. If the latest set of spy shots only revealed the M135i - BMW’s take on the Mercedes-AMG A45 and the

today our spy photographers spotted different engine variants, ranging from the entry-level model to the BMW M135i xDrive performance versions on the road.

The current-generation BMW 1 Series was launched in 2019 and it turned out to be one of the most successful models in the group. Now, we expect that BMW will work on trying to keep this success up, and given the amount of camouflage seen on these prototypes, it looks like the facelift will be huge. This will, of course, make the customers very happy.

Despite the heavy camouflage, we can easily spot the new set of headlights - which seem to be getting a new shape with a rounded and more slim design - and the new grille. Do not expect it to be as big as it is in models like the 2 Series Active Tourer.

As for the M135i, it will adopt a sportier look, with a new exhaust system with four end pipes, and more M-inspired elements. Could it actually rival models like the Volkswagen Golf R?

Our spy photographers were also able to get shots of the interior. The door trim, center console, steering wheel, and the dashboard seem to be completely redesigned. The latest iDrive 8 infotainment system, including the large screens, is also already visible.

As for the engine lineup, rumors suggest the current versions will be carried over, but with some small updates. The range-topping version, for example, will be offered with the same turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four, but it will probably deliver more than the 302 horsepower offered in the current version.

Expect the facelift 1 Series to arrive sometime in 2023.
