Audi is giving the Q5 the Sportback treatment but we won’t see it on the streets earlier than mid-2021. The Q5 Sportback carries on the SUV coupe theme we’ve seen from so many carmakers, so here’s all you need to know about it.

The Q5 Sportback is coming to the U.S. with two powertrains

Stateside customers can get the 2021 Q5 Sportback with either a 2-liter TFSI turbo engine and a 12-volt mild-hybrid setup for a grand total of 261 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. The other option is the tried and tested 3-liter TFSI (also turbo) V-6 with 349 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque.

The sole transmission option will most likely be the familiar seven-speed S-Tronic paired with Quattro all-wheel drive.

Standard features include adaptive dampers but you can upgrade to the optional air suspension. Also standard are the LED daytime running lights (upgradable to matrix-design LEDs). In the rear, every Q5 Sportback model will flaunt OLED taillights - the clusters are split into three main segments, each comprising six smaller tiles.

On the tech front, Audi will fit the Q5 Sportback with its MIB 3 infotainment setup. Higher versions of the setup include the Audi virtual cockpit plus (all-digital instrument cluster based on a 12.3-inch display) and a head-up display. Dominating the center console is a 10.1 touchscreen.

What’s it gonna cost me to get one?

There’s no word on pricing from Audi, but we can tell you this. However, a well-kitted example could easily touch the $60,000 threshold and even go beyond should you go berserk with the configurator.

Regardless of how much you’re willing to pay for a brand-new 2021 Audi Q5 Sportback, you’re going to have to wait until the summer of 2021 to do that, with deliveries hopefully kicking off in early fall 2021. The Audi Q5 Sportback is assembled at the San José Chiapa plant in Mexico.
