This is the Bugatti Chiron Sport, a car that weighs 18kg (39 pounds) less than the standard Chiron and features a new exhaust layout and carbon-fiber windshield wipers. Of course, that’s not all Bugatti did to make the Chiron Sport, as the suspension is revised, and it does get torque vectoring and a set of new wheels. It’s even a little faster in some circumstances, but it comes at a price: $3.6 million, about $1 million more than its standard brethren.

What Makes the Bugatti Chiron Sport Different?

There isn’t a lot that set the Chiron Sport and base model apart visually. The car does come complete with a new pair of wheels and a new four-pipe exhaust deflector around back. You might consider the carbon-fiber windshield wipers a new visual, but they simply shed a little weight and let Bugatti boast the fact that it was the first to put carbon fiber wiper arms on a production car if that’s what you would call the Chiron in the traditional sense, anyway. Inside, the driving mode selector and marketing plate are embossed get a black finish while the door sills feature the “Sport” logo. The center console also takes the “Chiron Sport” logo to further emphasize the car’s designation.

There is a new duo-tone color scheme available that allows you to choose new layouts compared to the standard model. The model displayed in Geneva rocks the Italian Red and “visible grey carbon.” Layout. The Italian red can be replaced with French Racing Blue, Gris Rafale, or Gun Powder grey. As you can see from the model shown here, the choice of any of the aforementioned colors will add the same color to the brake calipers, EB logo on the wheel center caps, the underside of the rear spoiler, the labeling on the intercooler cover. You’ll also notice the red “16” in the grille that denotes the car’s 16-cylinder engine.

The interior of the car gets a lot of black treatment. The black anodized finish can be found on all controls. The steering wheel gets suede leather while the roof liner is done up in Alcantara – a material that is also found on the A-Pillar, sun visors, and rear wall. Meanwhile, the seats are done up in leather as are the door trim panels and the islands on the dashboard. The rest of the interior showcases exposed carbon fiber. Not a bad look, but is it really worth an extra $1 million over the price of the standard Chiron?

Bugatti Chiron Sport Performance

Bugatti did nothing to the Chiron Sport to improve power output so that 8.0-liter W-16 still delivers a cool 1,479 horsepower and 1,180 pound-feet of torque. But, it’s not always power that makes a car faster, and that’s the case here. Bugatti managed to drop a total of 18 kilos or about 39 pounds from the curb weight of the car. It was made possible by swapping out a few parts for carbon-fiber alternatives, including the stabilizer, and the intercooler cover. The new wheels are also lightweight, however, Bugatti hasn’t given specifics about how much they weigh or how much lighter they really are.

The only specifics we do have about the weight loss, other than the overall figure, is for the new wiper arms, which shed a total of 1.4 KG or just over three pounds of weight. It doesn’t sound like much, and Bugatti sure is boasting the fact that the Chiron Sport is the first production model to have them, but it is a 77-percent decrease in weight compared to their traditional metal counterparts.

It’s not just about weight loss, though. In fact, Bugatti revised the suspension to make it stiffer and added in a new Dynamic Torque Vectoring function. These few things, plus the weight loss means the Chiron Sport is nimbler that the base Chiron and quicker on the track – five seconds quicker on the Nardo Handling Circuit, to be precise. That said, you can expect the Chiron Sport to corner better and at higher speeds with less body roll and better steering response.

Bugatti Chiron Sport Pricing

The Bugatti Chiron Sport commands a hefty €2.65 Million or about $3.26 million at current exchange rates. That puts it at about $1 million more expensive than the base Chiron, but that does include transport fees, so it has that going for it.
